What Do You Need to Enjoy the Path of Your Coaching Career Journey?
Your colleagues in the coaching profession who have been on the road before you recognize the situations you are experiencing preventing you from staying true to the process of professional growth.
Because of the challenges they encounter, every Coach knows the situations you can face in coaching sessions along with the ways of overcoming them. I know what I have to do with an important, valuable purpose. If you complain and say, I don’t want to be passive, I want to achieve the professional respect and success I deserve, but I am experiencing excessive stress during the session processes while coaching; it means that you need to receive Supervisor Coaching to become a super Coach in the coaching profession.
In some coaching sessions, you may be feeling helpless towards the coachee, or yourself during the session. After your training, mentoring sessions, and coaching hours to become an ICF credentialed Coach, as a candidate for coaching, you need support in the challenges you face through sharing your experiences with experienced coaches as you complete your coaching hours.
With Supervisor Coaching sessions, you can easily meet these needs. As a coach, you may be in conflict with yourself, such as; am I doing it right or what am I doing wrong in my coaching sessions. The situations clients deal with as a subject in their sessions may reflect the events that you bear the emotional burden of.
You may not be able to cope with those emotions you cannot foresee during the session, and you may not be able to actively listen to your coachee. When you were Team Coaching or group coaching, you may have noticed that you have stage fright. You may have a hard time taking action with the excitement you are experiencing. You may notice that you are tired of facing yourself. Maybe you are worried because your dreams are not coming true.
Maybe you are having a hard time in coaching sessions even though you are someone who can communicate comfortably in your social life and you can express yourself easily when you talk. You can worry saying, how will I meet face to face with the coachee, what will I say, how will I prepare before the session, what will I tell him/ her. Deeply embedded issues may have been revealed by the coachee’s story.
I am aware that you have come to a process with the experiences you have gone through. You don’t have to give up your coaching profession when you say, I have to decide, but what should I decide on? At this point, you can enter a new cycle with the support that will come with a Supervisor coaching session.
In a supervisor coaching session, the coach shares every detail he/ she experiences with his/ her more experienced coach. You may be experiencing what I am going to talk about in my related session example.
My dear colleague shared that while coaching his coachee in the Supervisor coaching session, he experienced a similar event in his own life and had difficulty listening to his coachee, and that it was not a productive session.
I need to prioritize what is important in my life, I want to change my thoughts, I want to change my environment, I want to be free from pessimism, I want to be more positive. I cannot continue in this way, I got through the negative situations I experienced, I don’t want to return to them again, my feelings that identify with the coachees in the sessions upset me, I do not want to fall back into the past; but on the other hand, I have coaching training hours, the information I have received, and mentoring sessions.
He concluded his words by saying, I don’t want to betray my efforts.
In the coaching profession, the coach learns to coach himself first. Trainings essentially start their own transformation process for a Coach candidate. By taking the initiative, he gains the power to make decisions and find himself to lead his life. He sees the decisions he has been disappointed by and he has failed at each time, the actions he has wasted his time with, and so much more; he begins to become honestly clear with himself.
The coach coaches himself first.
Deep down, he confronts the parts of the past, which are in the shadow, and illuminates them. Fears they cannot forgive, cannot forget, along with their anger surfaces. He begins to let himself take action to transform the points he has postponed, worrying about what other people will say and what they will think. He faces his excuses.
Waiting and making decisions instead of interpreting feelings with the current mood will take you to healthier places. In the supervisor coaching session, the coach conveys to the other coach how he can successfully coach in such situations before his coachee.
In the last phase of our Coaching session in the example I have given, with what he noticed, I numbed myself with dreams, I pacified myself in my sessions with erroneous judgments, to create my own best version, my dreams must be combined with the synthesis of my reason. As he continued his words saying, Now I am clearer, I should give importance to my inspirational thoughts during the session, I hope that, as you read these lines, you will realize the benefit of the reflection of our feelings and thoughts on each other.
In the supervisor coaching session, gaining perspective and knowing how to behave in these situations along with finding answers to your mentally unhealthy questions allows you to continue with the right motivation instead of ending your career in coaching.
Panic, worry, anxiety…
In your coaching sessions, you unwittingly limit yourself by feeling compelled to master your emotions while releasing them. During the supervisor coaching session, a coach’s statement was as follows;
“I find it difficult to ask strong and right questions, the emotions I feel prevent me from progressing during the session, then I keep hitting the same brick walls and I find myself very naive. I need a moment of courage and enthusiasm. I value my learning and there are places where I need to show courage with submission. It feels like I am using my information inaccurately, it is as if something is wrong with the coachee during the coaching session, I feel uneasy, and my questions are not adequate.“
Reaching a higher version of yourself…
Coaching is a profession you master as you experience sessions. It is for this mastery that the ICF requires coaching session hours for the relevant credential during the certification process and that these hours are among the success criteria in professional progress.
Supervisor coaching service, which enables you to realize what you can do better, what you can do well and improve in your profession, the points you say, I have the knowledge, but I do not know how to put it into practice yet, I do not know how to use it, is very valuable.
The requirement to provide supervisor coaching training is equally important to having more Supervisor coaches.
